Another Catholic's conversion - to for-profit status
Article Abstract:
Defenders of the sale of St Louis University Hospital to Tenet Healthcare Corp. cite the company's management of St Joseph Hospital in Omaha, NE, the teaching hospital for Creighton University School of Medicine. The Catholic hospital was sold in 1984 to American Medical International, a forerunner of Tenet. According to Rev. James Clifton, St Joseph's director of pastoral care, the Catholic teaching hospital has maintained its high standards, although some authorities complain about some of Tenet's management practices.
