Antimyelin antibodies as a predictor of clinically definite multiple sclerosis after a first demyelinating event
Article Abstract:
Patients in the early stages of multiple sclerosis who have antibodies against myelin basic protein (MBP) or myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) may develop chronic multiple sclerosis within one or two years. This was the conclusion of a study of 103 patients. Compared with patients who had no myelin antibodies, those with antibodies against one or the other protein were 32 times more likely to develop chronic multiple sclerosis within a year or two and those with antibodies against both proteins were 76 times more likely to develop chronic multiple sclerosis within a year or two.

Do myelin-directed antibodies predict multiple sclerosis?
Article Abstract:
Further research is needed to determine whether a blood test for antibodies to myelin could be used to diagnose patients with the early stage of multiple sclerosis (MS). A study published in 2003 found that patients in the early stages of MS who had these antibodies were more likely to develop chronic MS than patients who did not have the antibodies. The development of a blood test would make it much easier to diagnose MS early when it can be easily treated.

B-Cell depletion with Rituximab in relapsing-remitting Multiple Sclerosis
Article Abstract:
A study to examine the efficacy of Rituximab in the relapse or remission of patients suffering from Multiple Sclerosis is conducted. Results conclude that Rituximab is effective in the removal of inflammatory brain lesions and relapses for 48 weeks and also confirms the contribution of B-cell in multiple sclerosis.
