System overload
Article Abstract:
Spasticity is an inappropriate muscle response to impairment in the central nervous system (CNS). The impairment may be due to conditions including stroke or multiple sclerosis. The condition causes an imbalance in the synergy between the CNS and the peripheral nervous system which normally creates muscle tone sufficient to retain upright posture yet allow movement. Muscle responses can include abnormally high tension causing resistance to stretching or quick movement, or over-active tendon responses. Nursing interventions include body positioning and limb stretching.

The appendix is a 3-inch long projection from the large intestine with no known function. When it become blocked by fecal matter, ingested material or tumors, it may become inflamed and swollen. Immediate medical help should be sought when pain starting mid-abdomen shifting to the lower right, with nausea or vomiting, loss of appetite and other symptoms appear.
