Cooperative Ventures
Article Abstract:
Jay Guben first succeeded in the restaurant business, both as an owner and by teaching others, but now he has moved into a new area. He is now the director of the O&O Investment Fund, a consulting group which organizes worker owned cooperatives. Right now the group has helped some supermarkets get started, and offers management training for the owner workers, advice on how to get bank loans, and advice on marketing strategies. He envisions branching out into other fields where he sees lots of opportunities, such as the health care industry and the restaurant industry, although he admits not all industries are right for worker owned co-ops.
