Are younger physicians less unhappy in medicine?
Article Abstract:
Many doctors have become dissatisfied with their work in the past 15 years; 44% of those over 40 years old would not go to medical school if they had the choice again. However, 71% of physicians under 35 years old would choose medicine again. Experts believe that increased government regulation, paperwork and long hours contribute to older doctors' disaffection; for younger doctors, the prospect of a managed care system offers them more control over their lives. They may have entered medicine reconciled to large amounts of paperwork and a lower salary than their predecessors.

Body art; anatomical drawings display chronicles the evolution of medical science
Article Abstract:
An exhibition of 29 medical illustrations trace the evolution of medical drawings and knowledge from a period prior to the Renaissance through the Enlightenment. In a display at the Smart Museum of Art, Chicago, IL, the drawings demonstrate that inaccuracies became less common as medical knowledge expanded. In the Medieval period anatomists commonly stole bodies from gallows to serve as models. During the enlightenment, medical illustration became a profession, which flourished in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Heartbreak in crayon: educators tap the expressiveness of children to help educate the Hispanic community about AIDS
Article Abstract:
Chicago educators staged an art exhibit featuring 47 drawings by Hispanic children who are either afflicted by AIDS or who have relatives with the disease. The exhibit appeared at the Mexican Fine Arts Center in the largely Hispanic Pilsen-Little Village district. Educators hope that the event will help make community members more aware of the disease. The exhibit could not be more timely. Hispanics account for 15% of all documented AIDS cases in Chicago.
