Attacks on shopworkers - call for action
Article Abstract:
Victims of violent crime could face discrimination if the UK government goes ahead with its Criminal Injuries Compensation Bill in its present form, according to shopworkers' union Usdaw. The union fears that the proposed law would lead to victims losing large sums in compensation, that it could indirectly discriminate against women and that it could cause extreme hardship for the most vulnerable groups of workers. It is calling for a systems based on individual assessment and Common Law principles.
