Article Abstract:
The Chemical Industries Association (CIA) Responsible Care Programme aims to improve the performance of the chemical industry in aspects of health, environment, product safety, distribution, emergency response, relations with the public and safety. The CIA has set up the Chemical Industry Safety, Health and Environment Council (CISHEC), undertaking activities such as responses to proposed health and safety laws, providing training and the creation of safety awards.

Issues are presented concerning the Royal Automobile Club's report on motoring. The report has highlighted the number of accidents which are caused by driver tiredness, particularly among drivers of fleet cars.
