Australians back bacterial theory for bowel disease
Article Abstract:
Thomas Borody, Director of Centre for Digestive Diseases in Sydney, has concocted a mixture of three antibiotics rifabutin, clarithromycin and clofazimine to treat Crohn's disease, which has shown promising results in small-scale clinical trials. He is convinced that, as in the case of stomach ulcers, Crohn's is caused by infection with bacteria not normally found in the intestine.

A new biological agent for treatment of Shiga toxigenic Escherichia coli infections and dysentery in humans
Article Abstract:
A recombinant bacterium has been constructed that absorbed and netralized the Shiga toxins in Escherichia coli infection in mice. This bacterium shows promise as a way to treat E. coli infection and dysentery.
