Edinburgh University's Department of Nursing Studies, which runs degree-level training courses for nurses, has recently celebrated its 40th anniversary. The department was founded by Francis Crew, Gladys Carter, and Margaret Lamb in 1956. Details of how attitudes to graduate nurses have changed over the last 40 years are included, together with a related article outlining other achievements in the nursing field by the university.
