Ban chrysotile in Europe says HSC
Article Abstract:
The United Kingdom's Health and Safety Commission believes that current asbestos regulations should be modified to reflect current health and safety concerns. It will complete a Consultative Document encompassing advisable modifications in 1998 and will devise ways to lower chrysotile asbestos levels in the European Union. Asbestos is a lethal substance which should be dealt with cautiously during maintenance and renovation.

Draft regs on protective equipment
Article Abstract:
New protective equipment regulations proposed by the Health and Safety Executive will require employers to make their procedures for selecting personal protective equipment (ppe) more rigorous. Some companies may need to extend the range of ppe and accessories they provide. One feature of the legislation remains unaltered: ppe should only be used after all other means of protecting employees has been explored.
