The People's Bank of Nigeria (PBN) has established innovative loan measures which attempt to promote the literacy, health and social commitment of those that borrow money. PBN has continued to grow since its 1989 inception, an indication of the eagerness of Nigerians for opportunity.

Safe water - better health
Article Abstract:
Sri Lanka began a campaign in 1981 to provide safe drinking water to the entire population, a difficult task because 80% live in rural areas. By 1990 Sri Lanka had managed to bring safe water to 4.6 million more people, but efforts continue.

Safe drugs for everyone

Minister of Health O. Ransome-Kuti explains that Nigeria's new pharmaceutical legislation allows pharmacists to stock needed drugs. The new law prohibits the use or sale of drugs that are not on the 'essential' drugs list.
