Benefits of disposable thermometers
Article Abstract:
Comparisons between disposable thermometers and electronic thermometers used in an acute care hospital found that cases of infection fell to 78 with the use of disposable thermometers, from 127 cases when using electronic thermometers. In a chronic care hospital the cases of infection fell from 40 to 11 and the risk of infection fell 400%.

Comparison of disposable and glass mercury thermometers
Article Abstract:
A study that compared disposable and glass mercury thermometers raised questions about nursing practices and the safety of the tools used. The study found that less expensive disposable thermometers recorded temperatures more quickly than mercury thermometers, but were just as accurate.
