Washington physicians want role in suicide guidelines
Article Abstract:
The Washington State Medical Association (WSMA) will help the state Legislature draft guidelines for assisted suicide, should the practice become legal in the state of Washington. The move follows the Supreme Court's decision to rule on the legality of bans on assisted suicide in New York and Washington. Critics sight WSMA's decision to participate in the guidelines development process as discordant with the medical society's views on assisted suicide.

Humana drops gag clause
Article Abstract:
Humana Inc is discontinuing the use of gag clauses in its contracts with physicians. The managed healthcare provider does not want communications to be hindered between the doctors and their patients. Gag clauses include provisions such as precluding physicians from talking to their patients about possible avenues of treatment not covered by the plan, and preventing doctors from recommending outside specialists to their patients.
