"C" how much longer you can live: new study reveals vitamin C can help prolong life
Article Abstract:
The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey found that men who ingested higher amounts of vitamin C lived an average of six years longer than those with lower intakes. Vitamin C caused a significant reduction in cardiovascular disease and a slight reduction in cancer.

Research has shown that vitamin C may help lower the risk of coronary heart disease. Vitamin C prevents the oxidation of low-density lipoproteins. There is a positive correlation between the amount of vitamin C and the amount of high-density lipoproteins in the blood.

Vitamin E takes on the killers

Research has linked low blood vitamin E levels with increased cancer risk. Vitamin E may lower cancer risk by acting as an antioxidant. The vitamin is also inversely related to heart disease mortality.
