Article Abstract:
An inquiry into health service facilities in London, United Kingdom, has found that there in no over-provision and therefore no need to close any hospitals. St Bartholomew's hospital was facing closure but this has been lifted, although the accident and emergency unit will not be re-opened. London Health Emergency, a pressure group, is angry that none of the 3,000 beds in London which were closed since 1992 are to be re-opened. Recruitment is highlighted as a serious problem. The government plans to invest 800 million pounds sterling into the health service in the next 10 years.

Article Abstract:
There are circumstances where it is unwise to employ disabled people because they may be a liability to themselves or others. However it is important that attitudes toward disabled people are challenged. Disabled people can work effectively in many environments, including the National Health Service and should be supported in their attempts to do so. The Disability Discrimination Act does nothing to improve the attitudes or understanding of abled-bodied people.
