Article Abstract:
Tom Bolger, head of healthcare at Wandsworth Prison in London had an aspiration to become a teacher, but his plans changed in a holiday job on a surgical ward in his local hospital, and led him into various nursing posts before he took up healthcare at Wandsworth. He believes that implementing NHS initiatives such as clinical governance in prisons has been beneficial, but also recognizes the necessity for different healthcare needs of the prison population.
