Increased Cancer Mortality Following a History of Nonmelanoma Skin Cancer
Article Abstract:
People with a history of non-melanoma skin cancer may have an increased risk of other cancers. A 12-year follow-up of 1.1 million adults found that those who had a history of non-melanoma skin cancer had an increased risk of other skin cancers as well as non-skin cancers. These cancers included melanoma, throat cancer, lung cancer and non-Hodkin's lymphoma. Men had an increased risk of prostate cancer, bladder cancer and leukemia, and women had an increased risk of breast cancer.

Risk of cancer among offspring of childhood-cancer survivors
Article Abstract:
Children of adults who had cancer as children do not appear to have an increased risk of cancer themselves. Researchers in the Netherlands used cancer and birth registries to determine the rate of cancer in 5,847 children of 14,652 adults who had childhood cancer. Although there were 17 retinoblastomas and as well as other forms of hereditary cancer, there were only 22 cases of non-hereditary cancer. This translates to a 30% increased risk, which is relatively small.
