Change is coming: prepare, don't make it an enemy

Physicians are confused about the changes in the health care industry brought by managed care companies but they must learn to master management skills in order to use change to their own advantage. Understanding the marketplace and competition, setting goals, developing a strategy and communicating with those who can contribute to achieving success are keys. Physicians must remember things are changing quickly, so information, goals and strategies must be updated constantly.

Cooperation and education needed to improve E&M guidelines
Article Abstract:
The American Medical Association is working hard to ensure that the Health Care Financing Administration's Evaluation and Management guidelines do not prove burdensome to physicians. The fear is that these guidelines would be used to prosecute physicians who make coding errors. However, the FBI has stated that they were not as worried about coding errors as with preventing true instances of fraud.
