Chemotherapy and the war on cancer
Article Abstract:
A brief overview of cancer drug development since 1940s is presented considering researchers from multiple disciplines are coming together in search of more effective cancer drugs and the anticancer therapies have become increasingly dependent on understanding of human tumour biology. It is found that the next decade will present the challenge of designing trials to combine targeted drugs and cytotoxics in a more effective manner and will extend survival and improved quality of life.

The enemy within
Article Abstract:
The relationship between oestrogen and breast cancer is studied. Oestrogen that causes tumour formation, a carcinogen, is discovered however, the identification of oestrogen receptor (ER) helps to understand that patients with high level of ER expression are more responsive to hormone-ablative therapy that raises the possibility of developing anti-oestrogenic cancer drug, tamoxifen, which causes 50 percent reduction in the incidence of breast cancer.
