Aspirin and the risk of colorectal cancer in relation to the expression of COX-2
Article Abstract:
A study to investigate whether the influence of aspirin on the risk of colorectal cancer varied with the expression of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) in the tumor is conducted. The findings reveal that regular use of aspirin appears to reduce the risk of colorectal cancers that over express COX-2 but not the risk of colorectal cancers with weak or absent expression of COX-2.

The myeloproliferative disorders
Article Abstract:
The discoveries related to the three main Ph-negative myeloproliferative disorders, namely polycythemia vera, essential thrombocythemia, and idiopathic myelofibrosis are reviewed. With an aim to the success of imatinib in the treatment of chronic myeloid leukemia, it is hoped that the 2010 period would see the development of well-tolerated therapeutic JAK2 inhibitors.

Hydroxyurea compared with anagrelide in high-risk essential thrombocythemia
Article Abstract:
A randomized comparison of hydroxyurea with anagrelide in the treatment of essential thrombocythemia is conducted. The results reveal that hydroxyurea plus low-dose aspirin is superior to anagrelide plus low-dose aspirin for patients with essential thrombocythemia at high risk for vascular events.
