Chronic disease management for patients with respiratory disease
Article Abstract:
National and international awareness of the heavy burden of chronic disease has led to the development of new strategies for managing care. The manner in which self care, education and support for more patients with complex needs should be built into planned care delivery, and emphasizes that the patient is the key member of the care team are explained.

Implementing a patient-led service for chronic conditions
Article Abstract:
The various chronic conditions with fluctuating levels of disease activity are traditionally managed by lifelong regular medical reviews. It is revealed that hospital-initiated reviews can be replaced by partient-intiated reviews, supported by nurse-led initiatives.

Oxygen

Oxygen is given to patients in case of emergency, acute respiratory conditions such as pneumonia or pulmonary thromboembolism, acute severe asthma. The side effects of giving oxygen, how it is administered and the nursing considerations are discussed.
