Chronic fatigue syndrome: new insights into an enigmatic illness
Article Abstract:
Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is a nonspecific but debilitating illness which has been known by other names since the 18th century. Experienced worldwide, it affects between 2.3 and 8.6 per 100,000 Americans. CFS can be diagnosed only by eliminating the possibility of other medical and psychiatric illnesses since its main symptom of fatigue is common to many illnesses. Because constitutional, physical, and neuropsychiatric complaints accompany CFS, treatments involve various therapies and drugs but none cure. CFS is not life threatening and usually disappears after 3 to 5 years.

Vaginitis
Article Abstract:
Vaginitis is an inflammation of the vagina that may or may not be caused by an infection or sexual intercourse. The fungus Candida is one cause of vaginitis but it occurs naturally in the vagina and even celibate women can develop Candida vaginitis. Topical anti-fungal drugs are useful as well as oral fluconazole. Trichomoniasis is an infection that can be treated with metronidazole or tinidazole. Bacteria are the most common cause of vaginitis and it occurs when the composition of bacteria in the vagina changes. Metronidazole is also effective in these cases.
