Circumcision circumspection
Article Abstract:
Circumcision provides many health benefits but the procedure should be performed under more humane conditions. Many physicians do not use anesthesia but there is clear evidence that newborn infants can feel pain. A 1997 study revealed the benefits of an anesthetic cream applied to the penis. A more humane type of restraint is also needed. Circumcision reduces the risk of sexually transmitted diseases, urinary tract infections and penile cancer. There is no evidence that it leads to sexual problems.
