Climate change may impact waterborne diseases
Article Abstract:
Researchers at Pennsylvania State University have undertaken steps to analyze costs associated with waterborne diseases such as cryptosporidiosis, whose incidence are expected to increase due to global warming. The average cost of a complete cryptosporidiosis therapy is $211. However, costs may reach up to $70. Financial planning is important in the treatment of the disease since an outbreak in Milwaukee, WI, affected as much as 400,000 people in 1993.
