Clinical recognition and management of adult attention deficit hyperactivity disorder
Article Abstract:
Children who had attention deficit disorder (ADD) or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) may continue to have attentive problems into adulthood. There have been no conclusive research studies showing the effectiveness of any drug combinations in adults with ADD or ADHD but counseling appears to be an appropriate treatment choice. Adult patients with suspected ADD or ADHD should undergo thorough screening tests to eliminate other psychological conditions and accurately identify their childhood ADD or ADHD.

Gastroesophageal reflux: a common exacerbating factor in adult asthma
Article Abstract:
There appears to be an association betweeen adult asthma and gastroesophageal reflux (GER), a condition characterized by periodic backflow of acidic stomach contents into the esophagus. This linked response may be triggered by one or more of three proposed pathways. Monitoring the pH in a suspected patient's esophagus for 24 hours has been a way to accurately identify patients with GER. Treatment can include changing eating habits, medications, or surgical correction.
