The prevalence of clinical preventive services utilization by older women
Article Abstract:
A study of elderly women's compliance with the US Preventive Services Task Force recommendations for preventive health care found use of services decreased with age. A survey of over 5,000 women aged 65 and older found 78% had a routine check-up within two years, but less than 1% received all recommended health services. Health care providers should work to educate older women concerning the necessity of preventive screening services and proper immunization.

Clinical diagnosis and management of the patient with deep venous thromboembolism and acute pulmonary embolism
Article Abstract:
Early diagnosis and education concerning the patients' medical history can help prevent or successfully manage pulmonary embolism (PE). PE is often caused when pulmonary vessels are blocked by dislodged thrombus material in the deep veins of the legs and pelvis. Risk factors for PE include advanced age, obesity, congestive heart failure, and use of oral contraception. PE in acute cases can be fatal and is one of the most common causes of death in the nation.
