Composition of body weight differences in subjects with the same body height
Article Abstract:
Some 548 and 498 Danish men and women were studied to examine the composition of body weight differences in men and women that are of similar height. Results showed the mean values of the slope of body fat against body fat free mass to be 1,84 in men and 2.88 in women. However, no differences were noted between the different body height classes. The study suggests that genetic and environmental factors may cause weight differences among subjects of the same body height even as they may also affect the composition of these weight differences.

An explanation for the non-linearity of the relation between energy expenditure and fat-free mass
Article Abstract:
The non-linearity of the relationship between energy expenditure and fat-free mass was explained on the basis of simple calculations using data from the energy expenditure per unit mass of five internal organs compared with fat free mass obtained from autopsies of previously healthy Danish subjects. The calculations supported commonly reported values and disagreed with the concept of a curvilinear relationship with a decreasing slope.

A simple hypothesis for the development of obesity
Article Abstract:
A model for the development of obesity was presented basing on fundamental principles of fat mass, treatment of obesity and its genetic component. External influences were also considered but its most controversial supposition is that treatment of obesity will become more effective with a decreased portion of fat in the food. It was pointed out that the model contains oversimplifications that will be challenged in the future.
