The integral role of nursing in managed care
Article Abstract:
Nurses have an integral role to play in managed care, and this is illustrated by the Ambulatory Care Clinics of the Brooklyn Veterans Administration Medical Center. That hospital's clinics shifted to a managed care system, assigning a primary care doctor to each patient. Nurses participated in the changeover task force and helped design a model which set staff levels and defined nurses' roles.
