Congress OKs drug reimportation from Canada with safety caveat

The Medicare reform bill adopted by Congress contains prescription drug reimportation language that is expected to suffer the fate of prior measures that were passed but not implemented. The final Medicare reform agreement that allows imports from Canada only requires that the department certify the safety of reimportation again all but assuring that the practice would remain illegal.

Congress breathes new life into drug importation law

Rep. Dan Burton (R., Indiana) has spearheading an effort to legalize the importation of prescription drugs from Canada. According to data provided by Burton, if the increasing price of drugs is not dealt with, many older people will have to choose between food and drugs.
