Congress says no to HCA members
Article Abstract:
UK health care assistants (HCA) were refused membership of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) after a vote on the issue was taken at the RCN 1998 Congress, resulting in 204 delegates voting for membership while 293 delegates voted against. It had been proposed to allow membership to HCAs who had qualified at an agreed level. Some delegates suggested the status of the RCN could be brought into question if standards within the organisation were not maintained. Representatives of HCAs claimed they undertook important roles within nursing but were not afforded the respect due to them.

Coordination is the key
Article Abstract:
Views of different nurses are considered where some state that leaving the profession and rejoining it after some time still brings out passion for nursing whereas others feel that being out of it for long makes the people more successful. It is indicated that coordination is the important factor that helps the rejoinders to add again in the profession.
