Consulting patients on education strategy
Article Abstract:
Health care service developers need to seek the views of patients when planning new services. Some patient groups may be hard to identify and question, with community groups often the best method of tracking down certain patients who fit the correct profile. UK elderly cardiac patients were given the opportunity to help in the development of a programme which was designed to improve the quality of life for heart patients. The patient group was questioned about the impact certain medicines had on their quality of life.

Placebo inhaler devices and infection risks
Article Abstract:
Placebo inhaler devices are widely used in primary and secondary care to teach patients how to use their inhaler correctly without using active drug. The concern about the cross-infection risks of reusing medical devices, the European legislation is introduced to counteract the risk.

Different methods of teaching patients with rheumatic diseases about their condition are evaluated, including group or individual sessions. The right format for each patient should be considered.
