Coxibs and cardiovascular disease
Article Abstract:
The coxibs are a subclass of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) that are designed to inhibit selectively cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2). Coxibs is aggressively marketed directly to consumer in the United States and is dominating the prescription -drug market for NSAIDS.

Article Abstract:
COX-2 inhibitors appear to be as effective painkillers as NSAIDs but are less likely to cause gastrointestinal side effects. However, they may have adverse effects on the heart and kidneys, and more research is needed to determine how they interact with other drugs.

Cyclooxygenase inhibitors and the antiplatelet effects of aspirin
Article Abstract:
Ibuprofen can inhibit the anticoagulant activity of aspirin, according to researchers who studied the interaction of aspirin with drugs used to treat arthritis and cardiovascular diseases. Rofecoxib, acetaminophen, and diclofenac did not interact with aspirin.
