The personal touch pays off in safety
Article Abstract:
An effective safety program is crucial to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for workers in any organization. The most important components of such a program are availability of needed safety equipment and total involvement and commitment of both employers and employees in accomplishing objectives. Ways by which employers can encourage employee participation in the program include forming groups which will implement, monitor and evaluatethe safety and health initiatives, and providing incentives to those who contribute more to the success of the undertaking.

Give safe performance a pat on the back
Article Abstract:
Several companies use behavior-modification techniques to encourage safe behavior among employees. These usually come in the form of incentive programs that measure safety through property damage, compensation costs or injury statistics. According to psychologists and health professionals, however, programs that emphasize failures rather than achievements are inappropriate and do not achieve their objectives. Safety promotion programs should adopt a proactive perspective and should be founded on a study of the behaviors workers should adopt.
