Depot medroxyprogesterone acetate versus an oral contraceptive combined with very-low-dose danazol for long-term treatment of pelvic pain associated with endometriosis
Article Abstract:
Medroxyprogesterone acetate implants appear to be effective in reducing the pain associated with endometriosis. Eighty women with painful endometriosis were randomly assigned to receive medroxyprogesterone acetate implants every three months for one year or to take an oral contraceptive and danazol for one year. Both groups reported a decrease in pain. However, 72.5% of the group receiving implants reported satisfaction with their treatment while only 57.5% of the group taking contraceptives reported satisfaction. More women receiving implants had less pain at menstruation than those taking contraceptives.

Reproductive performance in infertile women with rectovaginal endometriosis: Is surgery worthwhile?
Article Abstract:
A study is conducted to ascertain whether the incidence of pregnancy is increased and time-to-conception is reduced in infertile women with rectovaginal endometriosis undergoing conservative surgery compared with those on expectant management. The results have shown that conservative surgery for rectovaginal endometriosis in infertile women does not modify the reproductive prognosis although it does increase pain-free survival time.
