Article Abstract:
The alarming need for organs and tissues present a multitude of regulatory, quality, efficiency, ethical and financial challenges to the health care industry. Health care providers therefore need to understand these issues and the responsibilities inherent in meeting the challenge. Some of the recommendations include improving clinical management of organ donors, increasing use of donors who are not historically categorized and potential donors because of medical history, increasing the number of live organ donors, and increasing the amount of non-heart-beating donors.
