Detection of acute HIV infections in an urban HIV counseling and testing population in the United States
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to evaluate and compare the use of HIV nucleic acid amplification testing (NAAT) and antibody-based algorithms in determination of HIV incidence, detection of acute HIV infections and surveillance of transmission of drug-resistant virus in Atlanta, U.S. A. It is seen that adding NAAT-based screening to standard HIV antibody testing increased case identification by 6% and uncovered the first evidence of multidrug-resistant HIV transmission in Atlanta.

Efficacy of cyto-chex blood preservative for delayed manual CD4 testing using Dynal T4 Quant CD4 test among HIV-infected persons in Zambia
Article Abstract:
Manual CD4 tests as Dynal T4 Quant are less expensive alternatives to flow cytometry in resource-limited countries. Whereas blood preservatives have proven useful for stabilizing blood samples to allow delayed CD4 testing by flow cytometry, they are not verified for manual for manual tests.
