Determinants of sexual risk-taking among young HIV-negative gay and bisexual men
Article Abstract:
Gay and bisexual young men with a history of nonconsensual sex, depression, and nitrite drug use may be more likely to engage in high-risk, unprotected sex. Researchers surveyed 439 men aged 18-30 years and found that those who had been raped, sexually assaulted, or molested were almost twice as likely to engage in anal sex without a condom with a casual male sex partner. Men with less education, low social support, or those who used amyl/butyl nitrite inhalants drugs were significantly more likely to practice unsafe sex.

Models of survival in HIV infection and their use in the quantification of treatment benefits
Article Abstract:
Sufficient follow-up data are available to allow modeling of survival time for AIDS patients. Nonparametric and parametric models of mortality have been evaluated using data from 554 seropositive participants in the Vancouver Lymphadenophathy-AIDS Study. Pronounced treatment benefits at the national level have been noted. Mortality rates leveled off in the mid-1990s. Availability of treatment in Canada and shape of the historical HIV infection curve were factors.

Impact of HIV infection on mortality in a cohort of injection drug users
Article Abstract:
