Expression of aquaporin 9 in human chorioamniotic membranes and placenta
Article Abstract:
The molecular mechanism of intramembranous pathway of amniotic fluid regulation is investigated to determine whether aquaporin 9 (AQP9) is expressed, and the cellular localization of AQP9 expression in human fetal membranes. This study demonstrates the expression of AQP9 messenger RNA (mRNA) and protein in human chorioamniotic membranes and placenta.

Expression of aquaporin 8 and its up-regulation by cyclic adenosine monophosphate in human WISH cells
Article Abstract:
Aquaporin 8 occurs in fetal membranes, according to a study of a cell line made from fetal membranes. Aquaporins are a group of proteins in cell membranes that allow water to pass through the membrane. The fetal membranes must allow water to pass through because they must control the amount of amniotic fluid inside the uterus.

Expression of aquaporin-8 in human placenta and chorioamniotic membranes: evidence of molecular mechanism for intramembranous amniotic fluid resorption
Article Abstract:
Researchers have discovered a protein called aquaporin-8 in the placenta and fetal membranes. This protein is part of a water channel in cell membranes and could be involved in regulating the amount of amniotic fluid inside the uterus during pregnancy.
