Difficulties in trying to eat healthier: descriptive analysis of perceived barriers for healthy eating
Article Abstract:
Factors perceived to be important barriers to healthy eating among European adults are examined. Barriers to healthy eating are found to vary from every EU country. Younger and educated subjects mentioned that the most constant difficulties are lack of time (24%), other subjects mentioned giving up of favorite foods (23%), willpower (18%), and price (15%). Survey results suggest that healthy eating promotion should not focus on the stipulation of information but to encourage the public to accept healthy eating as a part of daily life.

Definitions of 'healthy' eating: a pan-EU survey of consumer attitudes to food, nutrition and health
Article Abstract:
Europeans' perceptions of a healthy diet and the socio-cultural factors influencing such perceptions are examined. Most of the respondents defined healthy eating in a way that suggested that healthy dietary guidelines in the region are having an effect. Survey results show that some EU groups missed the information about the campaigns. Any strategy to change the outlook about healthy eating wil have to consider the baseline perception of healthy eating.
