Diversity is necessary for our success
Article Abstract:
Diversity is necessary for success for physician assistants as a professional group. The profession should reflect people served, not because anyone can take care of a certain group better than anyone else, but because opportunity must be provided so that role models can exist for each group. If achievement and success are demonstrated, then the profession will be one of opportunity. That does not constitute an unfair advantage for anyone. It is not true that efforts to increase diversity are no longer needed. Poverty is the greatest barrier to achievement, no matter what the age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion or marital status.

Home is where the care is
Article Abstract:
The North Middlesex Hospital in London, UK, established the Children's Home Care Team in 1987 to provide home care services for sick children, including those with short-term acute illnesses. The team hopes to participate as a pilot Diana Children's Community Nursing Team to also offer services to diabetic children. Demand for home care is high in the area, with the team receiving about 10,000 telephone calls and conducting around 4,000 home visits every year. The team works in conjunction with a general paediatric service and regularly visits about 200 children with special needs, such as chronic asthma.
