Diversity of HIV in rural Burkina Faso
Article Abstract:
The introduction of a program for prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) of HIV in Nouna, rural Burkina Faso led to the determination of HIV prevalence in this region to be 3.6% which is significantly lower than the 7% reported for 2 major cities of Burkina Faso. Resistance-associated polymorphisms were prevalent in the complete protease region, but no primary drug resistance mutations were detected.

Routine intrapartum HIV counseling and testing for prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV in a rural Ugandan hospital
Article Abstract:
Routine HIV counseling and testing (HCT) during labor is proposed as a way to increase prevention of mother-to-child HIV transmission (PMTCT) uptake. Analysis concluded that intrapartum HCT might be an acceptable and feasible way to increase individual and couple participation in PMTCT interventions.
