Doctors pull plug on paperless system
Article Abstract:
Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles have stopped using the computerized physician order entry system after receiving complaint from physicians regarding the slow down of the process, which was expected to speed up and improve patient care. Cedars-Sinai is working on the areas where problems were discovered including the impact computerized physician order entry (CPOE) had on ancillary departments, the complexity of the implementation, and the work involved in making the transition to CPOE, thus attempting to reinstall the system later.
