Does preventive care save money? Health economics and the presidential candidates
Article Abstract:
Some of the health care plans by candidates for the U.S. presidential elections are discussed. Preventive care methods like awareness about the perils of tobacco, alcohol, poor diet, can help in reducing mortality and thereby promote economies in health care.

Medicare and cost-effectiveness analysis
Article Abstract:
The future for cost-effectiveness analysis in the Medicare program is discussed. Although, cost-effectiveness analysis will not solve all of Medicare's problems, its use can help Medicare to target its health care resources more efficiently.

Financing Medicare in the next administration

The new administration of Medicare would find the scope of any new federal expenses limited by the needs of the Medicare behemoth. In year 2005 Medicare is expected to spend almost $8000 on each of its 41 million beneficiaries.
