Does this child have acute otitis media?
Article Abstract:
An eardrum that is red, cloudy, bulging, or immobile may be a sign that a child has an ear infection called otitis media, according to researchers who analyzed six studies that evaluated physical signs and symptoms of otitis media. Otitis media is the most common condition affecting young children, costing the US health care industry $5 billion each year. More than 80% of all children have had otitis media by the age of three.
