Physicians' attitudes about the care of patients in the persistent vegetative state: a national survey
Article Abstract:
Neurologists and medical directors appear to largely agree about patient care issues related to adults in the persistent vegetative state (PVS). Survey results from 150 medical directors and 169 neurologists reveal that 89% of all respondents felt it is ethical to discontinue intravenous feedings and 20% felt that lethal injections would be ethical. Most respondents answered that death would be preferable for patients in PVS and less than 9% believed that these patients should be treated for life-threatening conditions. Only 30% believe that patients in PVS can experience pain.

Physician participation in executions: time to eliminate anonymity provisions and protest the practice
Article Abstract:
Doctors should refuse to participate in executions by lethal injection. Advocates of the death penalty asked doctors to become involved to give the practice legitimacy. However, the American Medical Association and the British Medical Association are both opposed to doctors being involved in capital punishment.

Doctrs' willingness to participate in the death penalty
Article Abstract:
About 40% of doctors would be willing to participate to some extent in an execution by lethal injection, according to a survey of 413 doctors. This contradicts the position of the American Medical Association, which believes that doctors should not participate in the death penalty.
