Effectiveness of managing suspected pulmonary embolism using an algorithm combining clinical probability, D-dimer testing and computed tomography
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to assess the clinical effectiveness of a simplified algorithm using a chotomized clinical decision rule, D-dimer testing, and computed tomography (CT) in patients with suspected pulmonary embolism. The diagnostic management strategy using a simple clinical decision rule, D-dimer testing and CT is effective in the evaluation and management of patients with clinically suspected pulmonary embolism and its use is associated with low risk for subsequent fatal and nonfatal venous thromboembelism.

Accuracy of 16-row multidetector computed tomography for the assessment of coronary artery stenosis
Article Abstract:
The diagnostic accuracy of 16-row multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) is examined for the detection of obstructive coronary disease in a multicenter study, based exclusively on quantitative analysis. Results indicate that the16-row scanner MDCT coronary angiography is limited by a high number of nonevaluable cases and a high false-positive rate, which does not recommend its routine implementation in clinical practice.

Imaging of pulmonary embolism: too much of a good thing?
Article Abstract:
