Determining the benefit of bronchodilators in bronchiolitis: when is there enough benefit to warrant adoption into clinical practice?
Article Abstract:
Bronchodilating medication may be effective at improving first-time wheezing in infants with bronchiolitis. Doctors have been divided over whether bronchodilators have much effect in infants with bronchiolitis. North American pediatricians tend to prescribe bronchodilators such as albuterol much more often than do British pediatricians. The use of clinical scoring systems to grade infants' symptoms has allowed doctors to observe a 54% improvement over placebo in infants with first-time wheezing who receive bronchodilators. Epinephrine may be a better choice for treating bronchiolitis than albuterol.

Population-based study of the adequacy of well-child services: a rural county's report card
Article Abstract:
Many rural counties may not meet the childhood vaccination standards proposed by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Researchers analyzed vaccination rates among 674 two-year-old children in one rural New York county. About half of the children had been born in the county and half had immigrated. Only 80% had received four doses of DTP vaccine, 75% had received four doses of Hib type b vaccine, 85% had been vaccinated against measles and mumps and only 17% had received the chickenpox vaccine. Vaccination rates were lower in immigrants than in those born in the county.
