Emotional minefield
Article Abstract:
Psychological problems may underlie the behaviour of difficult patients. They may demand a disproportionate amount of medical attention yet complain it is ineffective. The basic cause of such behaviour may be an inability to contain anxiety. Professionals may help patients develop this ability through their responses. A coordinated multi-disciplinary response facilitates coping and resisting unreasonable demands.
