Caring for carers coping with stroke
Article Abstract:
Developing an effective multidisciplinary health care team is an invaluable method when helping people who are care for patients who have suffered a stroke. Carers of stroke patients often have little time to come to terms with their new role, as strokes are not predictable and strike at any time. Carers may find they suffer from depression more easily while coping with the illness of a loved one. Health care nurses can help carers to take a holistic approach to caring, making sure to give time for themselves.

Carers tap into the information highway
Article Abstract:
Assisting Carers Using Telematics Interventions to meet Older Persons' Needs (ACTION) is a 3-year European project aimed at improving the lives of the elderly and their carers, using means including videotelephony. The project is particularly beneficial to carers who are unable to go out or who live in remote areas. It also helps to give the elderly and carers a more active role in health care.
