The fetal-pelvic index has minimal utility in predicting fetal-pelvic disproportion
Article Abstract:
The fetal-pelvic index is not a very sensitive or specific predictor of the route of delivery in pregnancies in which the fetus may be too large for the maternal pelvis. The index use the fetal head and maternal abdominal circumferences to obtain a value used in predicting which women may require cesarean delivery. Researchers compared the indices of 91 patients, 61 of whom ultimately delivered their infants vaginally. The index was only moderately useful in predicting fetal-pelvic disproportion. Other factors may be more useful in predicting the route of delivery.

A comparison of an interactive computer-based method with a conventional reading approach for learning pelvic anatomy
Article Abstract:
Randomized longitudinal cohort design is used to assess the impact of interactive, computer-based versus conventional, paper-based format in student, resident and fellow learning and retention of pelvic anatomy knowledge. The results have shown that improvement and retention of anatomy knowledge was not very different when comparing a new CD-ROM interactive approach with a traditional paper-based method.
